Dutch army units
between 1813-2007 !

Some information should be given before you click on the link below.

You will open an Excel file with all possible units of the Dutch army between 1815-2007. With this file alone I could fill a special website. But for the moment it is still a page in the background chapter of the 8th militia site!

Each row in the file is 1 unit. The file opens with the year 1815, but if you take a unit and scroll to the left you will see the history of that unit in the years before Waterloo. All the way up to the time when it was raised. I didn't go before 1813, because I don't believe in the researches who say that the army of 1796 and before is the same as that of 1813. The army raised in 1813 was completely new. Indeed, many soldiers were coming from French units, but there are not many links between these French units and the "old" army.

If you scroll to the right you will see the history up till today. You will see that some units today have Waterloo in their banners and flags, and that's not for nothing! At the far right of the file you will even find the direct internet links to the 2007 units.

All details between 1813 and 1816 are coming from primarily sources; the Dutch archives. All information after 1816 is based on several secondary sources (see literature list on this site). The main info is coming from "Hardenberg" and "Ringoir". These authors were using primary sources to write their books, so they are more of less reliable. This part of the file is not ready however, I am still doing research there.

This file is only a draft, I am still filling the pages with details.

On the far left bottom of the file you will find all notes. There are many! And with some of them I could easily fill separate web pages. Perhaps in the future!

Enjoy.
