Das Grosse Hal Foster Buch;Carlsen (German)(1992). Beautifull book with everything you always wanted to know about our hero. With translated version of "Das Lied von Bernadette (The Song of Bernadette)".
Prince of Illustrators; Adventure Strip Hardcover By Brian M. Kane (US). Over 200 b&w and 30 color illustrations, including dozens of advertising pieces, done before his comics career, that have never before been collected. Zwartboek over plagiaat; Drukwerk 1981 & 1982 (Dutch). The translation of this title is "Prince Valiant's Blackbook regarding illegal copying". It's a book about illegal things in the comic world, in Dutch language. Very rare book.
The first print is called: "Prins Valiant verovert de Lage Landen, een zwartboek over plagiaat" (PV conquers the low lands, a blackbook about illigal copying) (1981)
The second print is calles "Zwartboek over plagiaat". The pictures are from both prints. Only 2100 books printed of the 2nd print, even less for the first print.
Comic Legends; In 1997 the Prince Valiant comic strip celebrated its 60th birthday. The Comics Legends Press commemorated the event with a small press publication. This provided a unique and scholarly insight into Hal Foster's enduring comic strip. The original printings of these were never available to the general public but were distributed in very small numbers to the cartoonist community. USA-International Publications bought the rights to the work and reprinted a limited number of 800 copies to sell to Prince Valiant fans. On the inside back cover a hand-signed number in ink indicates the printing number. This work is filled with fascinating facts and unique insight into the workings of the Prince Valiant comic strip. It is 13 pages in length, is printed with card stock covers and is illustrated mainly in B&W with several full page color illustrations.
The Comics; This US book is written by Coulton Waugh and discusses the US comics history. Several pages are dedicated to Hal Foster but there are not much pictures included. Published by Luna Press in 1947 and reprinted in 1974. The first edition is an expensive book.
Foster e Val (Portugal)/ Foster Y Val (Spain); This book is published by Manuel Caldas in Portugal and Spain. Unfortunally it's only in Portuguese and Spanish language. There are three Portuguese & one Spanish (softcover) editions, with a total of some 230 copies for the first two editions (the third and Spanish has more). The first printed in 1990 (dated 1989) and the second in 1993. The third and Spanish are printed in 2007. All are A4 size and with 170 pages in b&w (a page in color in the second and more in the third and Spanish edition). The book has illustrations on every page.
HAL FOSTER: Una épica post-románticaThis book is written by Rafael Marín and published by Sins sentido ediciones, Madrid (Spain) in 2004. It is in Spanish language. Very nice book. Contact Rafael directly if you are interested.
HAROLD R. FOSTERThis book is written by Salvador Vázquez de Parga and published by Toutain Editor (Spain) in 1982. It is in Spanish language. It's very difficult to get.
Algumas leituras de principe valente.This book is written by Edgard Guimaraes and published by Marca de Fantasia (Brazil) in 2005. It is in Portuguese language. You could still obtain it here. It's a very small book (A6 size), and has 69 pages in black and white.
Comics. Den stora Boken. This book from Sweden contains information about all comic heroes published in Sweden. This is part 2 and "Prins Valiant"is included.
Quadrinhos Dourados. A Historia Dos Suplementos No Brasil. This Brazilian book takes a look in the supplements of Brazilian Comics? No further information.
El Comic. Bibliotheca Cultural nr 30. Editoral Planeta. Spain. Planeta is an old publisher from Spain, they are now reprinting PV in a new serie. See Spain chapter. This "El Comic" book contains an article and some pictures of PV, amongst many other comic heroes.
CFA-APA. This is the CFA-APA book from March 1989. It is #14. CFA-APA stands for "Comic and Fantasy Art Ameteur Press Association". This bound tome has 214 pages of articles, art, editorials, random musings, interviews and more! Only 60 copies were printed of each of these books. This issue is devoted to Hal Foster and has tons of pages of his art. Also has work from other artists such as Chester Gould, Frank Frazetta, and more.

Prince Valiant companion. In 2009 Fantagraphic books re-printed 'Prince Valiant companion", a book once printed by Manuscript Pressin 1992.
